Yesterday I saw an Incel Camino with a giant ad for a chiropractor on the side.

At first this confused me, because I thought chiropractors were all crystals-and-qi hippies.

But I guess now they're probably all qanon maha antivaxxers too, so in hindsight, this tracks.

I did not mean to imply this absolves them of anything.

The Covid pandemic saw a huge rapprochement between alt-med tie-dye Wiccan hippies and hard-core Fascists.

@jwz Recently started seeing a chiropractor after years of disbelief. It’s been wonderful and helpful. And… he was super excited about No Kings. So at least there’s one good one out there still!

@jwz Last time I had a conversation with a chiropractor, he tried to convince me to sign up for a service that rented time on your graphics card while you weren’t using it, to mine crypto. Like Folding@Home, but for assholes.

@jwz Chiropractics attracts all sorts of folks with aversions to critical thinking.

@mrundkvist For sure, I guess I was more speaking from my own experience in the last 30-40 years.

A lot of the woo woo crystal healing hippie types I have met over the years were also hge conspiracy theorests. Big into UFO shit, racist South African farmer conspiracy shit, mercury in the vaccines, the Jews control the banks, etc. etc. Sure they may have liked the gays or been chill about drugs, but like...

That folks like that turned even further right. It's been the least shocking revelation.

@jwz I passed one yesterday in Mendo county which was painted fire-engine red and plastered with Mathnasium branding.

I am admittedly unsure of how you go from "I want to help tutor kids" to "I want to spend $150K doubling down on Elon love".

@jwz The two extremes are buying a lot of the same woo-woo things and “supplements”, it’s just the packaging is very different between the two markets.

@jwz There's a surprisingly large overlap in the Venn diagram of health influencers and MAGA chuds. They found common cause during COVID lockdowns, and their shared distrust of authority and terribly bad bad taste makes it a natural marriage. RFK Jr. is the avatar and the apotheosis of their bad ideas.
