Do yourself a favour, if you need cheap compute power to run something locally, check ebay, CEX, etc to get an old desktop from an office clearance...

I just check the price of the, admittedly fairly special, Raspberry Pi 500+ (which I lusted after on it's release but have ZERO use for) and it is currently (out-of-stock) £393.60!!!

Education pricing for the MacBook Neo is £499 (although, laughably the Pi comes with more RAM)

To help offset the memory prices for some use-cases, Raspberry Pi also announced the introduction of the Raspberry Pi 4 3GB model at $83 to help fill the void between the 2GB and 4GB options... https://www.phoronix.com/news/Raspberry-Pi-4-3GB
