Does it really want to be ahead of the pack or just a facilitator for the pack (a new revenue stream)?

@AAKL @jonnyevans I'd argue it's inadvertently landed in the better position. they just integrate it, most of the real expense and problems are on other companies. They just have to position it so it's not collapsing vital ios/macos/ipados systems if the companies crash and burn/

@ppb1701 @AAKL @jonnyevans It might not be inadvertant. Apple had to be really pressured by their shareholders to engage with AI. This may just be the cheapest, safest way to make them happy.

@jonnyevans @ppb1701 Think of all the money Apple will make off other companies' agents on its devices without spending a dime on new data centers or infrastructure. Meanwhile, the company will observe and learn so that it can improve its nascent AI.

@AAKL @ppb1701 Plus of course once AI has replaced the last job, and our society collapses under the weight of forever wars and its own contradictions, Apple will be there with the best machines to do things without any AI, because there will be no energy supply and we'll power our Macs with solar batteries and wind up crank shafts

@jonnyevans @ppb1701 A scary scenario. But Apple is now resisting new curbs on emissions, so like other "climate-friendly" companies, it's taking advantage of the deregulation because - why not?
When did the memo go out that Earth is disposable and that we can just pick up and to go to another planet so we can trash it as well?

@AAKL @jonnyevans Oh Musk has been saying we're going to Mars remember?

@AAKL @jonnyevans Oh Musk has been saying we're going to Mars remember?

@ppb1701 @AAKL @jonnyevans I'm cooking up a nice, tasty, juicy #nothingburger

@ppb1701 @jonnyevans @bms48 How could I forget? Somebody finally made him understand Mars isn't logistically or technologically feasible at this time. So, now we'll trash the moon instead.

@ppb1701 @jonnyevans @bms48 Oh, is that right? Maybe that goal has been moved to the moon? That bonus isn't going to show up any time soon.
-
@ppb1701 @AAKL @jonnyevans @bms48 the real solution is to remove him from the equation and there’s no issue anymore
