      @AAKL @Gizmodo @EUCommission perhaps the platforms don't care about your laws as they are apparently above the law

        @idahobucks @Gizmodo @EUCommission Or perhaps this is an easier way of punishing said platforms, from the official perspective.

          @AAKL @Gizmodo @EUCommission agreed but what would that be? Money doesn't work as they have so much

            @idahobucks @Gizmodo @EUCommission Fines are a drop in the bucket for the big companies, and they will fight back anyway, with vengeance to boot. So we're back to the beginning: Europe isn't able to control the big platforms, so it's punishing young people for some one else's mistakes while simultaneously undermining parents. This is just wrong, even if it works, which is debatable.

              @AAKL @idahobucks @Gizmodo @EUCommission As much as I hate the idea...

              I think the best options are:

              • Ban them from doing buisness (small ouch, but makes a point)
              • Block them.

              You do not need to ban VPNs if your goal is to enforce compliance, since you are already cutting off the flood of non-technical users.

                @Epic_Null @idahobucks @Gizmodo @EUCommission they can't ban a platform with millions of users. I'd love to see X banned, but consider the tantrum and the vengeance that will follow. Same with Meta. Frankly, at least these two have earned bans. But it's easier to ban kids without costly repercussions.

                I think your second point has potential, give or take. Maybe it's time to get out of the stupid "let's surveil and ban everything" box and start thinking more creatively.

                  @AAKL @idahobucks @Gizmodo @EUCommission These companies pay a lot of money to make their sites faster. Imagine the chaos if they were no longer allowed to have servers in countries that disproved of their actions.
