The Google datacenter is currently in a lawsuit noting their depleting impact on the regions water table and the nitrates concentrating within it. They are pushing to utilize further water resources from Mount Hood National Forest as they build out the structure.
Now an 'exascale' datacenter is in the works in Boardman, OR for Amazon.
These don't bring economic outputs to the region, they rely on massive tax cuts, they are massive burdens to the local environment, they promise job growth but only sustain paltry numbers...

The Dalles, a rural city in north-central Oregon, wants to expand its reservoir in the Mount Hood National Forest so it can store more water. While city officials say the water is needed for a growing population, environmental advocates worry it's really for Google and its growing number of data centers.
