I'm sorry, what is this horseshit. 💩

Not only do I find this line of thinking by the researchers abhorrent, I find it undeniably the OPPOSITE of what should be happening. Contributors to #OpenSource should be spending MORE time on things which aren't "code" tasks not less.

I recently won a grant to make big improvements to an OSS ecosystem (Bridgetown). Do you know what A LOT of the work is? IT'S NOT WRITING CODE !!!

jfc, this industry is hot garbage. 🤬

“Prior research has shown that OSS developers generally contribute to OSS because it gives them a creative outlet and they do not want to spend their time on managerial tasks like security and documentation. AI-powered tools may make it easier to quickly address such managerial tasks, so developers can spend time in a manner they prefer, while still ensuring the security, stability, and usability of OSS.”

      😳

Excuse me while I go gouge my eyes out of their sockets.
