@thenewoil I was really hoping the partner they were in talks with wouldn't be yanks.

So when my Pixel 9 dies i have to decide between Graphene on yank hardware. Or trying to get hold of a Fairphone, and whatever e/OS are hiding in their proprietary blobs.

@smithkm @thenewoil You can also try #postmarketOS with Fairphone.

@smithkm @thenewoil out of curiosity, what do yanks mean? (my 1st language isn't English).

@skywalker2k17 @thenewoil "Yank" is a slang (often but not always at least mildly derogatory) term for someone from the United States.

@smithkm @thenewoil Aahh, thanks. But I think Motorola is now owned by the Chinese (Lenovo), at least the mobile division. I don't know if that makes it any better though.

@skywalker2k17 @thenewoil The PRC in general are awful but at least they aren't trying to annex Canada through economic warfare. However, Lenovo in particular have been on my "never buy anything from" list since the SuperFish incident.

@smithkm @thenewoil why am I not surprised that it's made by the Israelis and the code that exploited is made by someone with ties to the IDF. Oh god, the more I read about this, the worse it gets. It's just like Samsung's AppCloud app.

@thenewoil Good news! 👍 I'd wish they start negotiation with #samsung as well.

@thenewoil the main picture is slop with a completely wrong GrapheneOS logo, that doesn't inspire the slightest bit of confidence in the veracity of the article...
