    New York Post, from yesterday: Meta planning to take their Ray-Ban Display glasses to the next level: translating, remembering faces, where you put your keys and how much you tip https://nypost.com/2026/05/11/business/ai-takes-metas-ray-ban-display-glasses-to-the-next-level/ #Meta #surveillance #privacy #BigTech

      @AAKL I'd be interested in open hardware local only compute AR assistive glasses, but we'll probably never see those.

        @z3r0fox I don't think these glasses qualify.

          @AAKL we should boycott all their products, no exception, and let them bleed in the market until they crash. When this happens, we will be free. A silent, but powerful revolution

            @AAKL ray ban must be so happy their brand is associated with their preferred clientele now.

              @AAKL
              I got LASIK surgery years ago so I wouldn't have to wear glasses.

              I'm enjoying not wearing glasses.

              I suspect the millions of others who paid not to wear glasses won't want to wear them either.

                @perdidonavida @AAKL
                They will be replaced by the next evil, mark my words. If they were to fall then some other corporate surveillance entity would eventually take their place. We few can resist however, evident by our mutual preferred social media platform.

                  @neutronstar @perdidonavida Google Glass failed years ago because of the backlash. If people cared enough, they could do it again.

                  The most dangerous thing is to allow surveillance to become the norm.

                    @Netraven I wonder how long this partnership will last as Meta's glasses get tangled up with even more blatant privacy abuses.
