I think it’s okay and even necessary to judge a book by the cover and unfortunately the cover and typesetting and photos in this new book are pretty disappointing.

@mwichary there’s that apple icon menu again!

@octothorpe A regular order as far as I know.
@mwichary That's… kinda embarrassing, actually. Eeep.

@Luke Randomly that’s the first spread that the book opened itself on!

It’s not just “this book is not fun to look at,” but even the line measure feels too high (or, margins too thin for this form factor), so it will also not be pleasant to read for that reason.

@mwichary I'm not sure how I would have set that cover, but probably Apple Garamond would have been involved? Myriad I guess if you wanted to focus on the newer stuff, but this isn't either.

@mwichary I'm getting stressed out just looking at a photo of that inner margin

@SnoopJ Overall it feels like it’s been optimized for cost savings over everything else.

@mwichary biting back snark about how appropriate that might be to the subject matter in a long-term outlook

@mwichary GAH! Why do people not understand that long line lengths are difficult to read and unenjoyable?!!!!
