So I’m stuck. Accident at Pont sur Yonne. But SNCF is holding everything back at Laroche Migennes. It’s 90km to cycle to where there are trains…

Shit happens. I get that. But SNCF obviously has no plan here other than keeping all trains back at the most major station (Laroche Migennes). They’re doing what operationally suits them.

Sod the fact that 50km of track - as far as Sens - is clear.

@jon last time I had a comparable issue with ÖBB, I was allowed to to take a taxi which has then been refunded by ÖBB without issue. It was for a ride between Bludenz and Landeck-Zams at ~23:00 a night Friday-Saturday, the whole ride was 210€ that was then shared between the 3 passengers who took it. 65 km, but in the middle of the night… The night train was stuck bc a huge thunderstorm had blown down the power supply line just before the tunnel and they knew the team was due to come fix it at 06:00 the Saturday morning.

          My destination: Maastricht

I’m meant to be on a Eurostar (Thalys) Paris - Liège

I assume I’ll be allowed on the next one with seats? 🤷‍♂️

There’s a SNCF guy on the platform shouting at people. The ticket office is closed. Digital information inaccurate. Hell knows what’s happening.

The guy on the platform is now shouting that the app info isn’t determined by him, and we’d better ignore it 🤷‍♂️

Too bad, hope, that you won't be stuck for too long!
But, on another note: What train is that Néz Cassé supposed to be working? 👀

I just enquired: if the accident is between Sens and Montereau, why are there no trains between here and Sens? (It’s a four track electrified line the whole way to Sens)

There are trains blocking the track ahead, they claim

But why can’t they send back what’s in Sens?

Aaah! 💡Have only seen Sybics on this one the last few times. But it seems, that this is only the case when I try to take a picture of it... 🤨

Anyway, I wasn't aware that it would arrive in Paris that late. Goes on the list for the next Néz Cassé tour this summer, thanks! 🙂

Arrival at Austerlitz is 07:53. Probably no decent spots north of Sens. Sunrise at midsummer is around 6:15. Could be doable, but it's certainly a tough one which requires proper research and preparation. And luck. Probably a lot of luck.

@dominicstucki so it was c. +30 this morning, before the extra mess here at Laroche. You could get a decent shot somewhere around Montereau perhaps.

@jon You go see the Chef de Bord at the next train leaving Paris, no need to queue at customer service. Try to have some sort of piece of paper with you justifying the delayed arrival of the train.

@moof I do not have paper, because the ticket office was closed. And I was booked to Maastricht, so might need a Belgian IC Bruxelles-Liege. It is not so simple!

This would be the most SNCF-Eurostar thing imaginable: get past the *actual* disruption, and then be left stranded in Paris because they won't let me on a Eurostar.

@jon so take the absurdly priced TGV international or travel via cologne in a shiny new ICE that sometimes runs... So many fake airlines that go there 😉

I do have a valid Interrail (10 days in 2 months pass) that I could theoretically use, but actually HOW am I supposed to get around all these hurdles?

It is 09:30 and I am in Sens

I need to be in Maastricht by about 15:45

And it looks like there is simply no way

@jon But if you haven’t left Sens yet, it looks like you can’t make that even with Eurostar.
