          @augieray
          I guess the APU and the air conditioning weren't running. They were a requirement during the hot phase of Corona. Nowadays most airlines prefer to save fuel (cost), so unless it is very hot or cold you probably won't get fresh air on the ground.

          Latest after takeoff and during the whole flight, levels should go way down as you might have measured.

              @lijepasam No. But it dropped below 900 in the air.

                @augieray

                To be fair, you're saying that's during boarding and that is exactly when air conditions are bad.

                From what I've read, modern aircraft have air filtration systems that either match or exceed those in operating theatres. So, yes, boarding and off loading when the engines are off - bad. Actually flying - not so bad.

                Or have I got it all wrong?

                  @augieray I don't think they have CO2 scrubbers though, depending on exchange with outside air for that. I don't know what the ventilation rate is, but... I'd expect it to stay somewhat elevated.

                    @kaffando Not sure why you framed it as if it was unfair. That was my point! Air is terrible while on the ground.

                    Your reply was like someone saying it's dark at night, and you reply "to be fair, it is night."

                      @augieray

                      Lost in translation a bit.

                      Your post says "Airplanes are safe because they have air filters." which for me reads as planes when flying. That's why I added the bits about the differences between boarding and flying.

                      I absolutely respect you and your work, so please don't take this the wrong way.

                        @MaksiSanctum @augieray
                        An N99 mask will not magically change the amount of CO2 you’re exposed to… that’s an issue about air turnover inside the cabin.

                          @Dhmspector @augieray Thanks but I knew that, it will however reduce the possibility of a virus through the incredibly low quality air.
