I've been critical of the way the @verge has been covering the development of HBO's upcoming Harry Potter reboot. But it looks like it wasn't in vain.

If you're going to cover it, *this* is how the series should be described every time it's mentioned.

HBO’s Harry Potter series premieres this Christmas.

HBO has released the first trailer for its upcoming Harry Potter series, which will help fund executive producer J.K. Rowling’s ongoing crusade against transgender people. Media coverage aside, looks like this Christmas is gonna suck for trans people who will have to deal — on top of everything — with their entire social circles of cis people gasping and gushing over the new Harry Potter series that's actively funding the policies that are torturing and killing them.

Cis people reading this, if you intend to watch the new HP series when it comes out, here’s two pieces of advice that you're not allowed to ignore:

• Have the decency to keep it and your reactions to yourself. This trans people-killing piece of media doesn't need any of your free publicity.

• Pirate the shit out of it.

Remember when a bunch of subscribers canceled their streaming subscriptions over Jimmy Kimmel? What if a lot of HBO subscribers canceled with the reason for canceling be "Cancel Harry Potter."

They back peddled on Kimmel. If HBO loses enough money over this, they will change too.

I'm disappointed I don't have an HBO subscription to cancel.

@nileane My best friend is a huge HP fan, but he also wants to do the right thing. I had no trouble turning my back on it when she started her anti-trans bullshit. He’s taking it slower. I’m trying. He already knows what I’m going to say if he says something positive about HP, so he rarely brings it up. But it’s tough to strike the right balance. I’m not giving an inch on JKR is bad and trans people are good. But I can’t yell at him every time we talk. Doing the best I can.

I will always hate finding out that the authors of beloved books or songs are absolutely horrendous. People whose moral sentiments completely abhorrent.
