@kibcol1049 When my Dad had surgery to restore blood flow to his left leg, I was tempted to tape signs to the bottom of his hospital bed: "right leg" and "wrong leg."
Not sure the hospital staff would have gotten the joke (a few would, but perhaps not the majority). Dad would have gotten it, but of course he couldn't see it.

@PhilthyPierre @kibcol1049 I wholly support extra precautions, especially when someone is having a scalpel inserted into their flesh.
When my Dad had cataract surgery, hospital admissions put his ID bracelet on the same side as they eye to be operated on. So simple, so clever!
Before the big surgery on Dad's leg the surgeon also marked the leg--by signing his initials!

@Karen5Lund @PhilthyPierre With my eye op the surgeon drew a big black arrow on my cheek in felt pen pointing to the eye. Then they also asked before I went in to confirm which eye it was! Of course I said "Well if you don't know we're in trouble!" But I think they'd heard that one before. 🤭

@Karen5Lund @kibcol1049 They may’ve gotten the joke. Yrs ago I had to have in hospital PT for a back injury & a bunch of other stuff. My range of motion was checked after each session. To make a really embarrassing (hospital gowns never stay shut) & painful daily experience less so, I decided to inject some humor. I took a sharpie & wrote on the back of my panties. “ If you can read this, you are way to close too my underwear if we aren’t dating.”
We all got a good giggle going forward -

@Karen5Lund @PhilthyPierre @kibcol1049 I know when I had a minor op they checked repeatedly that I was who they expected and that they were doing what I expected.
It felt a little intrusive, but also, I am glad that they checked. That they were making absolutely certain that they got it right.
