    @apenkop @QasimRashid

    well that requires people to vote

    especially in the primaries, to get the candidates Qasim, and I, desire

    too many don't care enough about the stakes:

    entitlement

    @benroyce @QasimRashid
    Aye, it does. And if that shouldn't be enough, I'd recommend ALL AMERICANS take to the streets and not rest until the bully-in-chief, the orange menace, is removed, along with his cronies and puppets.

      Let me be clear, any politician running for President in 2028 who does not champion universal healthcare is automatically a non-starter. I will not vote for someone who kills my neighbors for "shareholder value." You can go burn in hell with your ill gotten wealth.

        @QasimRashid the world we live in is shaped not by the intentions behind everyone's actions, but by their consequences.

        I would like to live in a world where people evaluate their planned (in)actions not by their virtuousness, but by their consequences.

        The consequence of not voting against fascism, even for the noblest of reasons like yours, is more fascism.

        From someone who doesn't have a vote to someone who does: please don't stand idly by as fascists foist their horrors upon the world.

              A good friend of mine was head of the chemistry and physics department at a San Francisco high school. She barely has enough $ to survive, after a life of service. She can't afford to live in California where she's been for decades. She has to move to a cheaper place, away from her community after a lifetime.

                    @CountHoldem @QasimRashid IDK that people are addicted to the duopoly as much as trapped by a system that enforces it.

                    We had primaries in SF this week for Governor. I didn't vote for the candidate I most wanted, I voted for a popular option that would help reduce the chances of who I really don't want getting on the ballot. They still did get on the ballot even if the majority of the state voted against them, because that opposition vote was diluted among multiple contenders.

                        @CountHoldem @QasimRashid

                        For me, the biggest most immediate issue is the #duopoly and voting for people and measures that will help stop that. Combine that with reversing citizens united.

                        Once we have a system that elects who people want rather than the lesser of two evils, then things like better healthcare will be an easy win.

                        (but if they were in favor of voting reform but weirdly against any healthcare reform, I probably would not vote for them, I'm not that single-issue oriented)

                            @brunoparga @QasimRashid To address Mr. Rashid's point: If one candidate wants to restore recent cuts to Obamacare and Medicaid but stops short of endorsing universal healthcare, would you really not vote for them over a candidate who wants to cut further? It's hard to imagine a more counterproductive attitude.

                                @BruceMirken @brunoparga @QasimRashid I would vote for the best proposal available, as I would vote for the best candidate. Example: Harris was not perfect, but she was by hundreds of miles, the better choice. Purists (not directed at author) sometimes shoot themselves in the foot in the name of purity. 🤔
