I've a couple of questions for hardcore #Vim users. Since the AI revelation will you be sticking with Vim ? If not are you watching #Evi and considering it ?

https://codeberg.org/NerdNextDoor/evi@justine on the fence. vim is standard fare on all the servers we manage as it comes with Rocky so replacing that would mean either neovim or pulling in a 3rd party repo for something else. I honestly don't care enough to do that. I would also only do that if any fork demonstrates it's properly maintained in the long run. Boutique forks are harmful.
On my private machines this might be the push I need to convert my setup to neovim. Maybe.

Yeah I'm sticking with Vim and watching Evi to see how long it lasts and how well it comes along. I've used Neovim before but I have to say that I preferred the later.

https://codeberg.org/NerdNextDoor/evi@justine@snac.smithies.me.uk switched to Helix half a year ago; has all my usual plugins baked in and is a lot snappier
i also like the change in selection, where movement pseudo selects and selection comes before action so you can preview the affected lines before entering a command
e.g. d5w (delete 5 words)
you can do as 5wd to ensure you actually selected what you imagined
trivial example for for more complex selects it's nice
hoping they don't sloppify -

https://codeberg.org/NerdNextDoor/evi@justine I've used neovim on my personal machines. I doubt i'll ever not use vim on servers since it's always there
i'm always very skeptical in philosophical forks like this as they rarely ever maintain momentum
