@ascentale @xtaran @bikenite #BikeNite A1. Regional hub town in Northern New England ski country, as usual. Lots of snow on the ground, as usual. I work from home, and I didn't have any meetings downtown, today, so no commuting, and I went food shopping Tu & We nights after meetings downtown, so no need to go out today. I've been car-free in this climate for over 4.5 years, so Winter cycling is nothing new to me. I even have pictures from my ride home in the snow, this week!

@ascentale @xtaran @bikenite I'm here an hour late and a dollar short in Central Illinois. Yes I rode to work today.
I have matching gloves b/c when I didn't, a guy on the bus pointed to where I'd dropped one and ... we all ended up holding up our hands with mismatched gloves in a quiet community bonding And when I told this to my neighbor, while waiting for the bus, she said she thought she'd seen the missing one walking the dog but she figured it was under teh snow...
Weeks later, yesterday morning, I head out on the bike and THE GLOVE is in my driveway As in, walkin' the dog, picking it up from the ground and just droppin' it where it would be seen.
I successfully got out the driveway as the bus was approaching, but she wasn't there to wave a purple hand to thank, but I loved the anti-entropy of Getting Something Back To Its Place.

@ascentale A1. Posting from San Francisco. I didn't know it was winter bike to work day. I don't work from an office, but I did bike to a coffee shop for a change of scenery while getting some laptop work done; maybe that counts as a commute. #BikeNite @xtaran @bikenite

I'm posting from home in Rochester Minnesota.

I'm retired, so no commuting anymore. I just try to take a fun ride everyday if possible. I took a 38 mile road ride today, something not always possible in Minnesota in February.

Usually I just bike to work, no matter if there is a "special" day. I knew there was such a day, but not that it is on that specific day.

Cannot tell much due to NDA, but looks like years of bike related work and commuting by bike will come to an end soon Looking back it was a great time, really cool skilled people, team spirit and approx. 30000km commuting on various bikes. So back to "work from home" and/or "rush hour car commute" it is. A job that makes the life of a lot of people "better" is more important to me vs. the luxury of a bike commute.

First I rode to the gym (18°F), then I rode to work (13°F), then I rode home after work (35°F). Still some big patches of ice on my route, which had me walking for a little & choosing a stretch of road over bike path. I rode an old cross bike today. #BikeNite

#BikeNite A1: I'm BikeNiting from #WaterlooRegion, where the temperature was above 0C today. There's snow on the ground (and in the bike lanes), that horrible mixture of icy, salty slush that's miserable to bike or walk through, and passing cars throw up a rooster tail of the stuff. And now that it's dipped below freezing again the roads, sidewalks, and bike lanes will be an unpassable, uneven, unrideable ribbon of snowcrete.

So no, I didn't commute by bike today.

@ascentale @xtaran @bikenite A1. I'm posting from Los Angeles CA USA. I almost didn't ride a bike at all today. I end my work day on Fridays heading to a high school campus right at the end of school. There's really nowhere to ride in the pick up area and the sidewalk is overflowing with students going the other way so I walked and took the metro today. However on the way home, the park I ordinarily cut through was taken over for a basketball tournament, and they rather rudely fenced off the middle of a public park. So I pulled a Lime Bike out of the field and rode it the quarter mile around the park in frustration. #bikenite

@ascentale @xtaran @bikenite Retired and did not know. Rode a few miles yesterday in Indy, into Speedway - P&E trail not cleared, but only a thin layer of snow (that not yet melted) covered them. Only thing: where driveways crossed trail there would be little piles of snow, only some of which covered speed bumps of ice (surprise!).
