LibreOffice is more than just software – it's a worldwide community doing cool things together. Here's what we did in January: https://blog.documentfoundation.org/blog/2026/02/09/libreoffice-project-and-community-recap-january-2026/ #foss #openSource #freesoftware
@libreoffice I'll admit, I don't really use LibreOffice, other than for opening files from people who obstinately send me MS Word files.
It's not a failing of Libre Office, I have no need for any word processor ... but I recognise that I am not the world.
LibreOffice is very important. Free software and open standards are important. So, congratulations OpenOffice on your latest release, may it help free the world of software.

@libreoffice Heh, I accidentally wrote "OpenOffice" in one instance ... oops.

I've been using #libreoffice for 10 years in my consulting business & i love it. all my clients use #msoffice, and my presentations & spreadsheets are seamless
I do very much want libre to release a tablet version. i always use 2-in-1 laptops, so i can notate on the fly, but i can't draw freehand in libreoffice
especially being able to sketch diagrams or mark up things in the presentation app. i really miss that feature from powerpoint

(Note that the first point in that list is about explicitly *destroying* the "community".)

@libreoffice what is this AI generated post text
@analog_feelings You know, there's indeed a lot of AI slop out there, so we understand if you're getting fatigue. But you could just ask us: there's actually a hard-working team of real people at TDF (and hundreds of volunteers) creating real software and content.

@WorldTravelerAll7 Glad you like it!
As you know, we're a community open source project with limited resources, so we focus on the desktop app. But anyone who wants more improvements to the mobile version can help our volunteers, or consider funding developers: https://www.documentfoundation.org/certified-developers/ -

i am referring to "desktop", not a "mobile" version. i have a windows laptop, so i use the windows desktop version. i don't use it on my phone
but i use convertible laptops with touchscreens so i can fold it over & take notes while surveying operations
is there a group working on making LibreOfffice work on touchscreens?

@WorldTravelerAll7 @libreoffice Yeah its seamless, Ive been using it for quite sometime the only thing i have to take care is to save the doc by default in docx format for my client.

@libreoffice I know what you folks are doing is awesome, but please at least try to write something manually

@analog_feelings I think you missed the point
We write everything manually. You made an incorrect assumption
