Does anybody know of a good laptop seller that serves the States and offers #linux ?
I’m currently looking for one because my MacBook, while still works and does what I need, has reached that point where I’ll eventually have problems down the road.
I’ve looked into #framework and it does intrigue me, but I’d like something preassembled. I prefer using the #debian family of Linux and would like a seller that lets me choose configuration options, like #system76 and #apple

@bryceac Framework has some prebuilt configurations and Linux support is great (I’m using Ubuntu)
The DIY option is straightforward to put together, and I’ve had mine for 4 years and haven’t had any issues.

@bryceac ah, i was just asking the same ? but for a linux 2in1 convertible laptop
someone pointed at Framework, which i'm also looking at (or as i now call it, the ikea of laptops
)
also Starlite https://us.starlabs.systems/collections/laptopsDell & Lenovo were also suggested. whichever brand, i heard Zorin can be configured to look like windows or apple
the nice thing about mastodon is, people are happy to engage & help

@caius I was about to ask where to find them, but it looks like a no go.
I’m looking for a 16 in. screen, but their offering there is only Windows. I can live with 13 inches, since I used a Surface Book.
However, the big thing I’m looking for is minimum storage of 4 TB and minimum of 64 GB RAM.
Thanks for letting me know they have prebuilt options with Linux though.
When I was looking at them, they offered only Windows unless I did DIY.

@bryceac System76 is based out of Denver, CO. I haven't used one of their products. I have had a Purism laptop that I enjoyed.

@knasman I have a Meerkat with Pop! OS from them that I am very much satisfied with, but have heard their laptop offerings aren’t the best, mainly due to the use of Sager/Clevo, which has seen a decline in quality.
However, the Pangolin Pro is among my considerations at the moment.
