Sorry to be that guy (just a guy), but:
Codeberg has been under a DDoS attack for hours. I've been supporting, praising and recommending Codeberg for a while now, and situations like this remind me why - a small team running on community donations, fighting to keep FOSS infrastructure alive.
If you rely on Codeberg, consider donating. I will be adding to my donation tonight.

@justaguylinux I boosted; I think it's totally ok to be “that guy” about something important.
I know the #Codeberg folks would agree w/ me that another way to help is host your own #Forgejo instance if you can (IIUC, they're working on federation features slowly but surely). DDoS don't work well if we're more distributed than they are!
Also, while application process for hosting is a higher bar, consider @sourceware for hosting who recently started offering Fogejo: https://forge.sourceware.org

@justaguylinux I think it would be better if more people would start self-hosting their own git servers and we could have some sort of federalized platform connecting them. So we wouldn't have this central point of failure.
Codeberg is great but it does not seem to be a proper solution long term.

I think maybe you might have missed my reply (that was posted before yours) that discussed many of the issues you raised here:

@justaguylinux
I want to donate (and have wanted to for a while) . Bank transfer isn't really practically doable for me; I wish they'd be open to accepting credit cards. -

@justaguylinux still having problems. Did they release a statement about what’s happening?

@justaguylinux oh. Interesting that an independent code hosting platform has been “mysteriously “ under ddos attack. Microslop wouldn’t stoop so low as to do something so dastardly, are they?
Yes. Of course they are.
