Today in the classroom:
First year chem are making a brass alloy using pennies and zinc. We'll chemoplate the penny with powdered zinc in ZnCl2. Then, we heat the zinc coated penny to create a shiny "gold" penny. This is a good lab to show students that mixtures can be solids.
Second year will explore how pH changes with H+ ion concentration. They'll dilute some samples, collect pH, then compare their molarity with the calculated pH value.

That's a really cool lab!
