    Building an independent Europe is a core issue for this Commission.

    And independence starts with a strong economy.

    That’s why we are using every tool we have to boost Europe’s competitiveness. Only a resilient, innovative, and dynamic European economy can truly guarantee our strategic autonomy.

      @EUCommission I'm sory, but I totally disagree! Independence starts with PEOPLE! Education, decentralized infrastructure, open hard- and software are next in the line.
      Based on that a strong and resilient economy can emerge. It's not the one of mega-companies though...

        @EUCommission You're so spectacularly bad at talking about this with anyone who doesn't read The FT, *sigh*. I don't even feel bad about the usual stream of clueless mansplainers in the comments.

          Now we need to go further.

          Europe’s competitiveness is not just an economic goal—it is a fight for our future.

          And we will keep working to ensure that European businesses can thrive in a fair, open economy.

          @EUCommission Then you will stop pushing reliance on Google Play Integrity for the EUDI wallet that you want us to use for just about everything online, right?

            @EUCommission Competitiveness is the WORST possible strategy in a context of resource scarcity. Please, do us all a favour and learn something from Science...

              @EUCommission ramping up homegrown energy is a big topic for independence. And that usually means renewables. We need to get away from fossil fuels not only because of its chronic environmental impact but acutely because of the EU's dependency on unfriendly foreign states for basic needs like heating and mobility.

              Agreed, @grob! Our RePowerEU plan is a big part of achieving that aim.
              While there is still a way to go, we start to see success.es In 2023, renewable energy accounted for 50% of the EU’s electricity production. We steadily move away from polluting fossil fuels, replacing them with clean alternatives

                @European Commission
                You regulate every little thing, increasing labor costs and energy prices. That's why nearly everything for the pharmaceutical industry is imported from Asia. The pharmaceutical industry itself is atrophied. You are diligently destroying the chemical industry. The same goes for the rest of industry. You are the problem. 🤷‍♂️

                  @European Commission 50%, it means we have to pay for 2 sources, not one. Even if one source does not work, or only works sometimes, you still have to pay for it.

                      @EUCommission so you are helping blow up the AI bubble? Thank you for being a part of why electronics are going to sky rocket soon.

                      Well done. I wonder how that helps with the UN Climate goals? Or does all power plants in the EU use renewable energy?

                      Sorry for ranting, but 200 billion? You might as well set the money on fire. Same insult.
