@mconley For the last couple of years I don't think we've seen any meaningful shift in desktop OS usage right? I'm fairly convinced our OS choices are engrained enough that there's no such thing as a plausible off-ramp.

Similarly I hear a lot of people complaining about recent MacOS releases, but don't think I've ever heard of anyone considering switching.

@Schouten_B @mconley I think as a product, macOS continues to feel like more of a cohesive whole than the choice found across the pond in the Linux world.

I wish quality was better across the board, but people have choices. AI just throws a monkey wrench into the whole affair; I'm not sure how computing sees our way out of this wilderness.

Perhaps it won't matter so much to practitioners to care about - people will be able to vibe code a new shell, file manager and browser on ChromeOS soon.

@mconley the timing would give it away. But then again the past 3 windows updates this year all had issues. I'm sure AI integration and code generation maybe a factor at play here.

@mconley there was finally a chance for it to be the year of Linux on desktop, and they blew it.
