State of Kdenlive - 2026

In 2025, the Kdenlive team continued grinding to push the project forward through steady development, collaboration, and community support. Over the past year we’ve found a nice balance between adding new features, bug fixing, polishing the user interface, and improving performance and workflow, with stability taking priority over feature creep.

@kdenlive Congratulations - I used Kdenlive for the first time this week to make a video of a talk with one track of audio/video of me talking, and another video track of me stepping through the slides.

I used scissors to cut out the audio mistakes, and then the alpha mask and transform to move my talking head into a corner.

It "just worked" - and it has inspired me to keep going with this kjnd of content.

@kdenlive We used Kdenlive for the #rsecon25 videos https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL27mQJy8eDHnot5jhJkFgBaIjqgE5zTn7 Being able to embed a timeline in another timeline was a really useful feature. Would like a way to make templates of layouts for doing video and slides side by side. I had to do some scripting work with the project files get layouts set up for each talk.
