Wow when did #Debian get so bloody hard to install?!! Not sure if it's the new calamates installer or what.

First: I let it do the set-up, but this was a bad idea. It installs crypt in Grub, which took ~50s to decrypt the drive! Then I did the partitioning/disk setup myself (boot, efi, LUKS { LVM: { swap, root } }) and ran through the install. Rebooted at end only to find it had not installed lvm or cryptsetup!

Got there in the end with lots of chroot rescues, but what a pain!

@artfulrobot @debian Only the Debian Live image uses the Calamares installer. Other images such as netinstall use Debian's own installer.

I've never used the Calamares installer (not a Debian thing, but a cross distribution thing) so can't help much. It's probably best to send in a bug report so that if there is a problem, it can be discussed and resolved.

@ecadre @artfulrobot @debian the live installer tends to install more than you expect, such as every language pack for everything it installs.

Much prefer the old Debian installer as it gives you a bit more control and doesn't install stuff you only have to remove later on...
