Turtles is such an incredibly bad set, but I think it might just be because New York is a terrible setting for stories. You can't possibly tell an interesting story in New York, fantasy settings need some actual rizz to be worth reading about. #MagicTheGathering

I love #MagicTheGathering so much, and I even like Wizards pretty well, but the survey asked 'Wizards/Hasbro' and man, my opinion of Hasbro [redacted]

The Dandan secret lair struck me as a genuine joke, like I saw it and assumed nobody would buy it because people who actually play Dandan are surely feral-brained people with their own unique alters, buying a Dandan secret lair is like, gauche, but apparently, no, it sold out instantly and now people are acting like this is hurting people who now Don't Have A Thing To Spend Money On. #MagicTheGathering

@Talen_Lee The thing about the DanDan lair is that while proxies are way cheaper, for people who do actually want real cards the lair was priced somewhat cheaper than the singles available on the secondary market. So on the face of it, it wasn’t a terrible deal.

They just refuse to then offer that deal to people who want it.

@Talen_Lee (And this isn’t even going into weird corner cases like making black border Magical Hacks available for the first time since 1994)

@Talen_Lee I am honestly wondering about producing a I-Can't-Believe-It's-Not-Dandan product.

@Talen_Lee Yes. I think there are two important aspects to why New York was so bad:
              * TNMT & Spiderman don't have mooks. Mooks are important to have creature cards that aren't legendary.
              * We'd been to NY only 2 sets ago. That is way too much.

Just in general, most IPs aren't suitable to a full set. Pretty much anything can be a commander deck, many can be 5. But Marvel (and DC) comics can't be full sets.

Generally large RPGs are good (FF). Series telling stories about tribes are good (Avatar)

@Talen_Lee Getting important characters in the right colours is just so important.

@Talen_Lee This is "you are right, and here is more reasons", I'm not arguing with your stated reason.

                  We are all angry together.

@Talen_Lee I am half tempted to print my own $20 bootleg of that (with different art and card backs)

@jordan @Talen_Lee Consult a lawyer, but I think there is nothing stopping you. I think you need different card names* too, but the rest is fine.

                      *They are trademarks I think.
