      @newsguyusa The Baltimore Sun is about to lose another subscriber. The paper has shrunk considerably. Much of the content comes from Sinclair TV. They seem to have fired all the proofreaders. And there are delivery problems every week or two.

      It’s sad.

        @newsguyusa

        Most regional US newspapers produce "infotainment" for appealing to advertisers, not any news or critical analysis. Nobody wants their product.

          @newsguyusa Not a surprising trend given that most traditional newspapers have become "minimum viable product" propaganda rags. The publishers have abandoned their core audience and now that audience is starting to vote with their wallet.

            @newsguyusa

            If local papers want to survive, they need to stop printing 2 day old wall street journal articles & stuff people have already seen online to uber-focus on *local* things.

            I want esp to see *everything* going on in the city/county each week - all the sports (from schools, amateur leagues, college, and pro), plays, recitals & concerts, movies, workshops & classes, nonprofit events...all of it, so we can actually see what we can do.

            Report on local issues & biz, exclusively.

              You mean embracing fascism hasn't paid off for newspapers?!? How sad 😑
