Android has excellent notification management. Long-press and make others like this buzz or be silent or just be disallowed. Somehow Facebook has worked around this and now always buzzes. I keep FB around to keep in touch with less technical branches of the family but this is intolerable.

@timbray I can just imagine members of your family thinking, "Yeah, I wish I could get off Facebook, but it's the only way I can keep in touch with Tim."

@timbray I only view facebook from a browser to prevent these types of behaviours.

@timbray - FB mobile web is really the best option there

@timbray uninstalled facebook from my phone a month ago. Now I'm only keeping tabs manually via the browser built-in into messenger (which I also plan on getting off, but it's a much more involved task for me), and I've never been happier.

@timbray Facebook Lite tends not to do that kind of stuff (at least not as much as the full fat Facebook app)

@timbray I only access it through a browser, which is fine. The only pain is the occasional messaging. The browser says to install the app. Accessing it via "desktop site" works, but is very clunky.
