        @jalefkowit so the Peace Corps -- the brainchild of a labor union leader, and founded by a US president whose stated goal was to counter stereotypes of "Yankee imperialism" -- has now been perverted into an emissary for digital colonialism, global surveillance, strikebreaking, laborforce deskilling, and oligarchic dominance. Awesome. Yet another JFK legacy being shat on by this administration.

          @jalefkowit Wow. This makes all the other projects we've run in developing countries which aggressively missed the whole point seem quaint and, in comparison, not abysmal failures.

          "To save time asking people what they needed, we asked AI duplicates of them instead and they said they really needed more AI!"

            @jalefkowit This is uncanny. A guy where I work was doing a presentation where he gushed about how a woman in a village in a developing county could diagnose the cause of her child’s fever and diarrhea using AI: I said it sounded like they could use clean drinking water much more than AI. Really took the wind out of the presenter’s sails but he needed a reality check.

                      @jalefkowit @mejs

                      My first thought is that excellent piece the Swedish newspapers worked on wrt Meta glasses and folks in Nairobi being the real AI. So perhaps folks there are already aware of how to use AI.
