Question from a few people I know who are finally ditching their Ring cameras:

Is there any option to properly recycle them or is there a group looking to repurpose the hardware for anything?

E-wasting them feels … wasteful, but passing them on to someone else is worse. So they’re hoping for a third option.

@ryanboswell I think some hardware hackers near you would love to take a crack at them. Or maybe your local hackerspace?

Anti-Ring research is pretty busy right now.

@ryanboswell If you've got a local hackerspace, I'm sure they can take them off your hands to study.

Otherwise, open up the case, take the camera lens off to use on dev boards, take the camera module out to see if you can make it play nice with other boards, and either trash the main board or give it to someone who needs practice decapping resin blobs

@drwho @ryanboswell I’ll gladly take them, but also local hackerspace might be a good fit. I’ve got one taken apart in my workshop but could always use more / different models so I can analyze their emissions to develop ways of detecting and mitigating them.
