The battery in my Bluetooth helmet headset (Sena Smart HJC 20B) is worn out.

@jik Wow, lousy to say the least. Maybe call the company…
@dancingdogs I emailed #RevZilla, where I bought the headset, and asked if they can contact the company and find out if they can tell me how to get a battery, since RevZilla is usually pretty helpful and a reseller calling the manufacturer is often more effective than an end-user doing it. We'll see how it plays out.

@jik Hope that works.

The battery in my Bluetooth helmet headset (Sena Smart HJC 20B) is worn out. I opened the case and confirmed that it's easily replaceable—indeed, it was clearly designed to be—but I can't find the replacement battery for sale anywhere.
The one listing on Amazon which claims to be compatible clearly isn't, since it has the wrong number of wires.
I really don't want an otherwise perfectly good, $300 headset to end up in the landfill for want of the right battery.
*sigh*
#motorcycle #SenaI emailed RevZilla, where I bought the headset. They said email #Sena, the manufacturer.
I emailed Sena. They told me to file a support ticket.
I filed a ticket. They told me, "We do not recommend replacing the battery yourself, as this may affect the performance of the unit. Batteries are not sold separately through our support channel. We recommend contacting your local dealer or the original retailer to check if the unit may still qualify for a warranty replacement options. [sic]" -

"This is some serious bullshit.
The headset is out of warranty.
RevZilla doesn't do repairs.
Can you please tell me whether batteries are available for sale by Sena to others who _do_ do repairs of Sena headsets, and if so, how I can find an authorized repair location to bring the headset to, so I can get the battery replaced?"

The worst thing about this is I believe Sena is the only manufacturer that makes headsets compatible with my helmet, so if I do end up needing to pay to replace the whole headset, I'm either going to have to pay to replace my helmet as well, with a different brand, or give Sena more money after they screwed me over by refusing to allow me to replace the battery in the headset I already gave them $300 for.

Honestly? It may be worth it to try Ali Express. I get my drone repair parts there, since they come from there anyway

Sena responded: "As mentioned previously, we do not offer replacement batteries for the Smart HJC 20B headset, as we only provide full unit replacements. Batteries are not sold separately through Sena or our authorized channels."
Fuck that noise. -

Fuck that noise.A tip of the hat to @TeflonTrout who suggested (https://beige.party/@TeflonTrout/116222380678842488) that I try AliExpress! I had previously tried various searches on the shopping tabs of Google and StartPage search and found nothing.
But when I went directly to AliExpress and searched there I was able to find the exact battery I needed by searching for the number printed on the outside of the old battery.
I ordered two just to be safe.
I guess to long-term store a LiPo battery I'm supposed to drain it to about 50% first? -

"'We would rather you send a perfectly good headset to a landfill and give us another $300 for a new one than enable you to save money and protect the environment by replacing your battery' is not a good look.I just found the battery I need on AliExpress and I will, indeed, be replacing it myself.
And the next time I am in the market for a new headset I will be making sure to choose a different vendor because of your failure to properly support your products."

@jik Hell yes, I love a happy ending!
Edit: I have an ulterior motive, battery life on my own Sena is getting mighty low...

@jik
Thanks for sharing. I've added Sena to the list of companies that will never get my money. I may not remember this story in particular, but the name Sena will forever be tainted for me. -
