I saw someone post about the #NoKings demonstrations this weekend, saying they "had a great time."
Fam, if you're protesting your fascist government and it turns out to be "a great time," you're doing it wrong.
There's a reason why I insist on calling these demonstrations and not protests. It's the same reason why the fascists continue to allow these demonstrations to take place without cracking down with typical fascist violence:
They don't disrupt business, they don't smash the machinery of oppression and genocide. They are well-regulated, taking place at permitted times in permitted spaces. They pose no threat to the status quo.
They're parades, fam.
Our government seems hellbent on killing most of the world and enslaving the rest of us, and we're throwing fucking solidarity parades.

Don't get me wrong:
I am glad to see more and more people showing up to these things.
But if we really want to stop this death machine before it eats us all, we're eventually gonna have to do more than hold signs and sing songs together on the weekends.
