    This is one of the most startling creatures in the UK. Although named after a cat, to me it is absolutely a miniature rabbit. It is a Puss Moth (Cerura vinula).

    What you can't see from the photo is that it is huge. Around 40mm in length.

    It is surprisingly well camouflaged when tightly folded. I did a double-take before I believed my eyes.

      @lionelb I've never seen one in person, but I've read about how terrible the irritation can be that is caused by tiny hairs that can get into your skin.
