@paco This film brings back memories of working in a video store (we did DVDs and games too, but mostly still VHS).

Everyone was utterly captivated. We had to run the latest blockbusters on the in store screens, and for this cycle having Godzilla on at closing would extend working by 10-15mins as we had to shoo everyone out.

Luckily, in the same release cycle was Spice World, whack that on 20mins before closing and boom, shutters down and out the door bang on 10pm.

@bortzmeyer@mastodon.gougere.fr They are not lucrative and they will give 100% of their benefice to associations.

When .lgbt & .gay only give 20% and are lucrative 🙂
(Furthermore, .gay is only for… gays and .lgbt might be "not less")

@godofbiscuits I’m not really qualified to say what is queer enough to be considered supportive of queer folks. I just do what I think might help. I’m not associated with the project, though I backed it and I enthusiastically hope it succeeds.

@bortzmeyer @paco .lgbt is for-profit, and only offer a cool tld (in exchange of money). The .meow is non-profit. Whatever money they get must go to the community (legally binding) + you get a very cool tld 😊

@paco i dont have any real animosity towards it, and i think they'll do good stuff. I'm frustrated when LGBTQ people apologize for existing.

@godofbiscuits Maybe I am more of the target audience.

I’m not gay, I just want to be supportive. I don’t have a use for a .gay domain, because it is too specific. I don’t do anything where “gay” is the theme or the content, and it isn’t part of my identity.

So I can buy a funny domain .meow, do something playful that suits my needs, and I’ll be supporting lgbtq+ causes while I’m at it. I guess that’s probably why I’m enthusiastic.

Marlinspike was kicked out of Signal after he pushed a cryptocurrency nonsense thing (in which he was an investor) into the app.

He's been trying to make money from the latest nonsense fad for a while. I'm only surprised his name wasn't on some Metaverse thing.
