Also, it's not often you see one of these toppers that's all crochet and no knitting, nobody will care about that but I just had to point it out anyway.

The issue with that theory is that my wife did take a photo of the other side and one of the characters is a chicken in a suit of armour with a shield and my recollection of history is that the chicken knights were strictly neutral until the Second Boer War.
