@GinevraCat @afewbugs @sinituulia I have this theory that more problems than we think are caused by much fewer people than we fear and I am ready to test it with reforestation.

(ETA: Sorry, I also on reflection feel like I should say that yup, I'm aware how close that treads to some very real ethical lines and have no plans on going full ecofascist. Just: real frustrated and scared this week. Carry on.)

@afewbugs I figure as long as it would be completely clear who you're locked on, even remotely would work?

@leahbobet I'm really very much not a fan of violence of any kind, but a core part of me deeply enjoys different forms of fey-adjacent poetic justice and reincarnation still within the wheel of life...

Quietly in the night, you are handed the Tree Ray. It does one thing and only one thing, and that is turning people into trees. Anyone at all you fire it at? Instantly a tree. A nice, healthy, lush tree with a sturdy root system, multiple symbiotic species in, on and around it, just doing its tree best. Probably attracting a bunch of birds, too.

...How careful are you to tree people up?

@sinituulia @onepict my list starts with a lot of folks currently in political office, and many very wealthy people. And we'll see about who inherits that wealth and their positions. Also ceos and board members of all the corporate interests messing up and not substantially remediating the global environment. As trees they could do the world more good.

@sinituulia Oh this question is SO personal and I am READY. I’d leave the bigger ethical tree ray questions to others, and stick to my area of expertise.

I would be a vengeance spirit waiting to cross paths with one entity as my target: Apollo. Pew pew fucker.

@sinituulia This sounds nice, but the problem as always is why should I have the ultimate say in radically changing someone’s life/ ending their existence as known? Individuals playing god never ends well, no matter how well intentioned. We seem to do better with groups coming to consensus, though that doesn’t always work either. Maybe something like a treeth and reconciliation council? We do need ethical ways of holding evil accountable.

@IcooIey A council would probably be all well and good, yes... It doesn't seem like the holding accountable bit is currently working, though
