It really bothers me that most people in the US can't do that. I can't imagine waiting two weeks for an MRI pre-auth so we can move forward with care. 1/

Real talk: the pain is so bad that I tried to take my life a few weeks ago (a few days before I spent a week in the hospital getting on a drug regimen that's making things just barely livable). I'm glad I didn't succeed, but given the level of pain, it wasn't an irrational act by any stretch. 2/

Last weekend I was getting back to a REALLY dark place again. I stopped at a tattoo parlor on a whim and got this thinking "the coroner would make jokes about someone with a fresh semicolon tattoo offing themselves" and I wasn't cool with that. Sick, I know.

That arm hurts so bad I never felt it. 3/

So back to the pre-auth and insurance co-pay issues: I'm 100% certain people are dying because they can't bear to wait for insurance and don't have the option to pay out of pocket without guarantee of reimbursement.

That supremely pisses me off. It should piss you off too. 4/

Quality healthcare shouldn't be this way. It doesn't have to be this way. It's only this way because of greed. Period.

Things were worse before the ACA, but the ACA hasn't made healthcare remotely equitable in the US. Quality, timely healthcare is a human right. Period. /FIN

Really sorry to hear you almost took your life. 😞

I hope you find the treatment needed to never be brought to the brink again. Just awful you went through that.

@malwarejake *hugs* there is nothing I can say to you that I’m sure you haven’t said to yourself. But know that your presence would absolutely be missed. People who decide to leave are always in so much pain, and they always leave the largest whole behind.
