What voices are people using with NVDA these days by chance other than Eloquence. Also, are they compatible with 2026.1 at this point?

@JeffBishop ESpeak NG. I keep trying other ones, but I always come back to ESpeak for its clarity at high speed and its impressive handling of odd words. I find Eloquence to be less clear in a lot of situations, and natural voices don't speed up well and handle complex words poorly. They also tend to lack good punctuation support.

@JeffBishop There's a working Orpheus out there. I think WinTalker works as well. Oh and let's not forget TG Speechbox. That's getting better and better with every update.

@VE3RWJ @JeffBishop I grew up with Eloquence on Windows and KeyNote Gold on BrailleNotes. I used to think both were excellent and ESpeak was terrible. Then, when I graduated and switched from Jaws to NVDA full-time in 2011, I got more and more used to ESpeak. I also stopped using a BrailleNote. Now, I can't imagine not using ESpeak.

@alexhall @VE3RWJ I wonder how you have it set. It's defaults are difficult at best.

@JeffBishop @VE3RWJ It's the one that comes with NVDA, not the SAPI one. I use American English, the Max voice, rate boost on, rate 23. Not the fastest speech by far, but plenty fast for me while staying easily understandable.

@JeffBishop Microsoft Sera. Not sure of correct spelling as I am not near my computer. I think it is a One Core voice.

@JeffBishop I sometimes like to play around with, believe it or not, Keynote Gold/Bestspeech (first heard of this being done by @Tamasg) and sometimes even RHVoice. I proudly made Keynote Gold compatible and it's a pull request on @samtupy's repo (thanks Claude and VS Code😁). RHVoice I believe that's in the Add-On Store now and you can download the voices you want from the website.
                                        Bestspeech: https://chrisduffley.com/bestspeech.nvda-addon - PR: https://github.com/samtupy/b32tts_wrapper/pull/6
RHVoice: In the Add-On Store and at https://github.com/RHVoice/RHVoice/releases/download/1.18.2/RHVoice-1.18.201.nvda-addon

There are several others that you can find thanks to @datajake1999's website that should also work. WinTalker being one of those. https://datajake.braillescreen.net/TTS/SynthesizersForNVDA/
