For everyone saying "immigrate to Europe!

For everyone saying "immigrate to Europe! You'll be safe here" I want to cram this chart in their face...
Every one of your fucking countries is 1-2 elections from being fascist yourselves. And no end in sight. Sure, Trump's America is bad. But being an immigrant in any fascist nation is really bad too.
God I'm sick of all the "it couldn't happen here"isms

@JessTheUnstill I think much of this is expressed less out of assuming another country would be better and more out of frustration for the mess we've become thanks to the current government. But I definitely hear what you're saying

@JessTheUnstill not me, looking at the 1950 hard right drop and corresponding conservative spike like
Gosh, it's almost as if the easiest place for the worst people to hide is..."traditional conservatism"

@JessTheUnstill we love living in Belgium, it's multitudes better than living in America, but the anti immigrant racism that has lead the far right to victory is very prevalent. It was super common to invite our new neighbors over, and at least one of them say something to the effect of, ik not racist but these (insert middle eastern country) immigrants are a real problem. They don't get invited back to my house, but we always are like we are immigrants too, and people don't choose where they are from. Also those we have met and are from middle eastern countries have been some of the nicest Belgians we've met. Othering rhetoric always goes down a dark path, always

@tstruthers @JessTheUnstill I did feel in Europe there was a sense of we will provide social services to everyone but only because we can keep the “wrong people” out of our country. In the US, we literally don’t have social services because people would rather not have them than let black or brown people have them. So same destination, different paths.
