@mekkaokereke I gotta admit I was not ready for how on point Afroman was. That's not someone you wanna argue with, let alone be _wrong_ when you are!
@Mabande @mekkaokereke 100%. Rock solid like that, not to mention while testifying. Stands out because it is so rare. That was watching a very sharp and organised mind at work.

@mekkaokereke HE WON! The jury did not find him guilty. I love this for the butt hurt cops who raided him.
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/AiFn2WTdKQs@mekkaokereke OMG. "Lemon Pound Cake" cop's ex-wife testified in Afroman's defense!

Cops raided Afroman's house for no reason. They pointed guns at him and his kids, ransacked his house, and tried to disconnect his home security cameras. They didn't disconnect them all, and so were allegedly caught on camera stealing his money.
He then made a series of music videos using footage from his security camerasz and body cam footage. Now the cops are suing him for making the videos. The ACLU is defending him.
@mekkaokereke props to the lawyer for demonstrating what professional darvo looks like
and afroman handling this beautifully

@Su_G @CStamp @RnDanger @mekkaokereke "justice is what love looks like in public". I don't believe he was merciless at any point in this process, but the cops were at every opportunity. He was resolute and unapologetic, which isn't the same as cruelty. They didn't have to go through any of this. And, even after the initial crimes they committed, they didn't have to bring a meritless lawsuit to make it worse for themselves, and for him.
-
@mekkaokereke I'm not saying Afroman is wrong. I'm just saying that it's really weird that they let him answer his own questions.
And I'm not sure 'they came to my house first' is a defense the law is going to hold. A jury, OTOH, might as well. Meanwhile, IANAL and all my US law knowledge is from TV

@mdione @mekkaokereke lawyers normally tell their clients to say as little as possible, but I think he gets a pass because he can clearly talk circles around anybody. His bars are obviously not limited to songs about marijuana.

absolutely unimaginable to them that he could have the gall to think of his own children's fear for their lives (in front of the barrel of the state's guns) being more important than the embarrassment of the children of the state thugs holding the guns.
this is how supremacy works, and Afroman is cutting straight through it, just short of explicitly asking, "Why are their feelings more important than my life? Why are their kids' feelings more important than my kids' safety? What gives you, sir, the right to talk to me as if I'm the morally reprehensible one because I won't treat them as superiors when they inflict pointless violence on me and my family?"

@mekkaokereke Afroman is a national treasure. I loved his music as a teen (and still do as an adult lol.)
Good for him for pushing back against police over-reach and asserting his freedom of speech!

@mekkaokereke “I can break into your house but you can’t make a video about me liking cake” is a wild take

@mekkaokereke been loving this case ever since he dropped the songs, such a bullshit raid. Good on him for speaking up - if the cops are confident enough to raid him, they're probably doing similar stuff to a lot of other people who can't speak up so loudly.

Ehem, I believe it was a lemon pound cake. Have some respect for mom's baking.
