    I need help on sourcing! An important Indian activist (Bengali, I believe) has a quote that goes something like:

    "I will support the Brahmin against the colonist, I will support the worker against the Brahmin, I will support the beaten wife against the worker, I will support the abused child against the mother."

    Its a terribly important quote, speaking about where we need to direct our efforts to not become complicit. But I cannot recall the correct quote, nor the source.

    Help!?

      So I still haven't found the source. But the good news is this has led me to spend the morning digging through Bengali liberation literature. And I do have a few bangers to share.

        "The main reason why I have never been able to raise my head against slavery is that whenever a sister has tried to raise her head, her head has been crushed by a blow in the form of a weapon in the name of religion or the words of the scriptures. What we did not accept easily at first, we later considered as the command of religion and made it a matter of honor."

          "A man is journeying towards the sun and takes a photograph at each step. How different would be the first photograph from the second and still more from the third or the last, when he reaches the real sun! But all these, though differing so widely from each other, are true, only they are made to appear different by the changing conditions of time and space."

            @thebrand
            There is a pretty similar quote from Periyar E V Ramaswamy, social reformer and politician from Tamilnadu, who is the founder of so called Dravidian politics. (
            en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Periyar)
            The exact quote goes like this.

            "If a larger country oppresses a smaller country, I’ll stand with the smaller country. If the smaller country has majoritarian religion that oppresses minority religions, I’ll stand with minority religions. If the minority religion has caste and one caste oppresses another caste, I’ll stand with the caste being oppressed. In the oppressed caste, if an employer oppresses his employee, I’ll stand with the employee. If the employee goes home and oppresses his wife, I’ll stand with that woman. Overall, oppression is my enemy.”
            from this article www.youthkiawaaz.com/2022/09/anarchism-in-periyar/
            I'm sure other philosophers also would have similar thoughts and quotes.

              @SRDas that would make sense! I'll dig into it tomorrow. Thank you.

                @gopal @SRDas that's it! Thank you so much!

                (No wonder I was having trouble finding it, I was looking in the wrong part of the country.)

                  @thebrand That sounds similar to a quote by Periyar E. V. Ramasamy.

                  "If larger country oppresses a smaller country, I'll stand with smaller country.
