    Do you want to create your own Wiki? You might want to try some of these options:

    (All of these are free and open source)

    🌱 @mediawiki - The software used by Wikipedia

    🌱 @TiddlyWiki - Personal wiki stored in a single HTML file

    🌱 @FeatherWiki - Lightweight software for making wikis, notebooks, databases in a single file

    🌱 @bookstack - Easy-to-use simple wiki & documentation software

    🌱 @xwikiorg - Wiki software aimed at businesses, libre alternative to Confluence

    #SelfHosting #Wiki #FOSS

        @homegrown @mediawiki @TiddlyWiki @bookstack @xwikiorg @FeatherWiki A few weks ago i newfound PMWiki, which i suggest to look at. It's a sort of flatfile-Wiki, which stores its data in single files.

        It doesn't need any database and is highly customizable. Although you can setup user-accounts, it follows sophisticated access-rules out-of-the-box for single files, groups of files or user-defined parts of the wiki.

        Install, backup, restore or duplicate works just by (FTP-)filecopy - very simple and exactly what i was looking for.

          @homegrown I have my own mediawiki instance and I can’t say I recommend it. Picked it primarily because I wanted my wiki to look like wikipedia. However, a big part of that look comes from infoboxes, which are NOT part of mediawiki but are defined by templates and modules that need to be imported from wikipedia manually. It’s also not trivial to maintain. For most people, a simpler, more modern wiki would be better.

              @homegrown
              I’m happily running @dokuwiki since ages. Plain php, easy to set up and easy to backup as no db required. Features that came in handy for me are LDAP, writing in markdown and oembed support.

                  @aretaon @homegrown @dokuwiki same!

                  The lack of "wysiwyg" editor out of the box might put people off, but add ons fix this.
                  I have been using my DokuWiki install for years - it's great!
