Today, the predecessor of yesterday’s Porsche 911, the 356. The 356’s four-cylinder engine lived on in the 912, a less powerful alternative to the six-cylinder 911 using the 911 body. Four-cylinder cars have often been seen as the poor relations of the Porsche range compared with the sixes, but have a respectable pedigree in their own right, through the 912, 914, 924/944/968 and some Boxsters and Caymans.
