    8086YES! is back, and this time it's a no to 8086: the BOOK II is a TTL-based Apple II clone with a whole bunch of upgrades including a Z80 SoftCard for CP/M goodness... in a netbook-like (chunky) laptop chassis.

    Not going to lie, I'm kinda tempted.

      Finally, Copy Fail. Yeah, couldn't leave this one unmentioned: local privilege escalation vulnerability in Linux kernels stretching back nine years, most likely including the one you're using now. (Yes, even if you're on Windows, if you've got WSL installed. Mac users, feel free to engage smug mode now.)

      Two-line mitigation included, while you await a patch.

      Researchers Warn of an Easily-Exploitable Privilege Escalation Vuln in Linux: Copy Fail

      Affecting kernel versions going back to 2017, Copy Fail lets any unprivileged user switch to root — and many distros remain unpatched.

          Also! #Hackster's looking at getting me to do more video (boo), starting with one op-ed piece a month. Could be short-form portrait for the socials, could be long-form landscape - it's up to me.

          If you've any ideas of things you think you could stand to watch me drone on about, I'm open to suggestions!

                @ghalfacree That is pretty interesting. Wish it had a Super Serial card and a smart port though.

                  @chris
                  There's a spare slot broken out at the back, so you can always add a card. It does just sort of... dangle there, though.

                    @ghalfacree Yeah, at that point it's about as portable as my //c... They do talk about an internal interface for a disk emulator, if that's a SmartPort it could be interesting. Cram a FujiNet in there...

                      @ghalfacree pricey but looks nice. If they continue on this trend maybe we'll get a TRS80 Model III or 4 from them sometime which would fantastic
