    Art advice (web-links) sought

    Our daughter has found that she's really enjoying drawing and watercolour painting. She's currently doing a short in-person course.

    She's desperate to be able to draw people. She's making good progress with figures, but it's faces that she's really struggling with.

    Can any suggest any links for someone at beginner level to help her draw faces and facial features please?

        @MikeFromLFE The artist behind the #lackadaisyCats webcomic has a few tutorials. Here's one on faces: https://lackadaisy.com/exhibit.php?exhibitid=356

          @MikeFromLFE Hi there! Not sure where your daughter is at skill-wise without looking at her work, but to draw heads & people successfully, besides basic observational skills one would cultivate through copying photographs and still lives 1:1, an artist needs a good understanding of how to draw 3D elements in space (perspective). A good way to test her understanding of perspective is to ask: Is she able to draw a objects with simple geometry, turn them around with her imagination, and draw them?

            @MikeFromLFE Other than that, for human anatomy/figure drawing, I suggest Proko and for perspective, I suggest DrawABox.

            Proko playlist on facial features: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLtG4P3lq8RHHFhiyjXP4UT-yUo7pC13GQ&si=ijfuv9gUKkysDaXg

            Proko playlist on heads: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL39135B8D190B7C97&si=V7lnwMOfQPp_5DP-

                  @ipd
                  Hi
                  That's a very perceptive point
                  Without boring you with the full story, she was screened twice for various autistic related issues during the latter stages of several long admissions to psychiatric hospital.
                  She was judged to be 'negative' (as it were) but it's telling that they felt the need to repeat the screening.
                  She has PTSD as her primary diagnosis and is living independently but in supported accommodation.

                  Thanks for your help.
