Curio, who make the Gabbo cuddly toy for young children, say "Research into how children interact with AI-powered toys is a top priority for Curio this year and in the future."
No.
High quality research into how children interact with AI-powered toys needed to happen BEFORE you put a product to market you absolute fuckwits.
When 'act fast and break things' includes toddlers. FFS.

@eclectech Too much AI adoption is making me ill today. I need a walk.
If I'm going to be "left behind" because of my refusal of AI, so be it, I will be so much happier, healthier and wiser for it.

@Akki It's grim.
Have a nice walk and try and put it out of your mind. I am embracing "rant, get it out, and move on" atm to keep me going.

@eclectech testing in production this way is so deeply unethical

@silhelm It's awful, and their comment about focusing on research in the future should be an absolutely unacceptable response to being presented with this research. Have they not even been asked what research they did prior to releasing the toy? Argh!

@eclectech Walk is good so far. Found out the house i thought had 3-4 white cats actually has 5 real life white cats. It was surreal.
And that was after seeing two lads moving a large guinea pig hutch on a skate down the hill.

@Akki This sounds like excellent progress.
Also on a quick glance I initially processed the second paragraph as "a large guinea pig skating down a hill" which was a splendid mental image.

I kind of get the impression tagging a product with AI means people won't buy it. -

@eclectech @silhelm They've found a niche to exploit, and thus will they exploit it.
And while the bubble lasts, genAI companies can afford to keep gov'ts from acting.
Capitalists gonna capitalize.
