”I don’t want a party of crazies. We need to be a party that’s viewed as reasonable, and have good judgment. There has to be an alternative to Liberals because they (voters) will swing one day and I don’t want to swing it to what we have right now because it’d be no different than the U.S. in some ways and that’s a different game.”

    Good luck with that.

@dyckron still wonder how he retained the leadership. Blackmail? Harper secretly controlling things?

@giflian that's a great question. I don't know enough to speculate but I sure wonder.

trudeau had the good sense to not let his ego get in the way. PP isn't nearly as self aware - he really needs to go - or at least destroy the CPC for another decade or two, then go.

@maya_b @giflian haha! I'd prefer the latter, really shit the bed. Maybe Lewis could grow the NDP that way, it's a nice dream anyways 😅

@dyckron @giflian I was there in Calgary. CPC members believe that Mr. Poilievre shares their values, and recognise that in the last election he led the party to a higher percentage of the popular vote than it had received since the 1980s.

Plus at the moment there are no alternatives who seem to have better odds of winning.

So the delegates decided to give him another chance.

@giflian @dyckron The vote was invitation only, with expensive tickets. Only a small percentage of party members were able to cast a ballot.
