        @infobeautiful And how much of it is desert?

        Would it not make more sense to compare it size-wise to the Sahara?

        20-30% of Australia is reasonably habitable with current technology (don't forget climate change), and actually 5% of it has >90% of the population; they all live within 50-150 km of the coast.
