Building an independent Europe is a core issue for this Commission.

And independence starts with a strong economy.

That’s why we are using every tool we have to boost Europe’s competitiveness. Only a resilient, innovative, and dynamic European economy can truly guarantee our strategic autonomy.

@EUCommission Remember that among friends, Coöperation is more powerful than competition.

But for the record: US and IL are not our friends.

No, @EUCommission, #independence does not "start with a strong economy."

Your social media team just makes stuff up in order to rhetorically connect your pro-business #deregulation policies that hurt people with the very justified fears people have in the face of our dependencies to #Trump #America.

Our efforts are helping to strengthen Europe’s competitive edge:

📝 10 simplification packages proposed to save European companies €15 billion every year
🌍 44 trade agreements with 79 countries giving European companies privileged access to global markets
🏢 EU Inc: We plan to create a single set of rules for companies operating across the EU
🚀 A European Competitiveness Fund on the way, equipped with €451 billion

Now we need to go further.

Europe’s competitiveness is not just an economic goal—it is a fight for our future.

And we will keep working to ensure that European businesses can thrive in a fair, open economy.

@EUCommission As opposed to mega corporations who bribe the president and leak personal data to the regime, in return for international protection from any fair competition.

@EUCommission Then stop wasting money on AI. It's an obvious bubble. There's no path to justifying the expense, just Fear Of Missing Out. And it's enriching open supporters of the US fascist cleptocracy.

@EUCommission An independent economy can't run on software belonging to a corpo with misled priorities, from an unstable country which is an unreliable partner and an deficient democracy. 🫤 As long as #Europe is hanging on this hook, there's no real independence. And the money funneled into this liability would be spent so much better to just improve whatever is missing from #FOSS to make it a true, competitive and free alternative for all to benefit from.

@EUCommission €15 Billion for European companies? How is that gonna have any positive effects on the world's third largest economy? Where is the proposal saving EU citizens – who would actually notice effects – €15 billion?

@EUCommission ramping up homegrown energy is a big topic for independence. And that usually means renewables. We need to get away from fossil fuels not only because of its chronic environmental impact but acutely because of the EU's dependency on unfriendly foreign states for basic needs like heating and mobility.

Building an independent Europe is a core issue for this Commission.

And independence starts with a strong economy.

That’s why we are using every tool we have to boost Europe’s competitiveness. Only a resilient, innovative, and dynamic European economy can truly guarantee our strategic autonomy.

@EUCommission I'm sory, but I totally disagree! Independence starts with PEOPLE! Education, decentralized infrastructure, open hard- and software are next in the line.
Based on that a strong and resilient economy can emerge. It's not the one of mega-companies though...

@EUCommission You're so spectacularly bad at talking about this with anyone who doesn't read The FT, *sigh*. I don't even feel bad about the usual stream of clueless mansplainers in the comments.
