Just installed @GrapheneOS on my "new" Pixel 8
The web-installer worked like a charm.The only hickup was, that it took me longer to realize the the image download was completed.
I belive "downloading" change to "dowloaded" which I didn't notice.
A green checkmark would have helped me -

@hipsterelectron @realn2s I didn't expect any success in my attempting to get a pixel to be honest, everyone's way too burnt out on stuff

E.g. Signal isn't in the GrapheneOS store and using the Google Play store requires me to log in.
I liked the e/os way to offer an anonymous Play store (I understand that there are security implications with this)It's just a naive first use impression
And good to know when you recommend GrapheneOS to non-technical users

@realn2s @GrapheneOS you can download signal directly from the official signal page. Or use Molly instead. You find it at accrescent

@freya yes
that's why i've been thinking about it. typing this on my pixel 7 which gets security updates for a bit longer but does not get the supreme 7 year support guarantee from any of the models with ARM MTE -

@realn2s @GrapheneOS also you can use aurora store theres nothing technical about the app situation on graphene os its the least technical part accrescent is in there app store and molly is in accrescent you can also get on a webbrowser pull up chatgpt or something and ask it how to do apps on graphene os.

@LearnToLivePrivate @GrapheneOS
The (non-)technical bit is knowing that there is no ready-to-use app store on the phone after the initial install (for a standard user coming from stock Android or iOS)
