@technocounselor Hey, it's your money. If you want to spend $6000+ on a Mac book, then don't let anyone tell you it's the wrong thing.

@gtbray Yes, that too.

@technocounselor I can't imagine just dropping five thousand all at once like that. Has to be in both parts exciting and painful for sure; maybe one day, I might get myself a really good PC or computer with all the updated specs for offline LLM models.

@technocounselor I have to ask, do you know of any LLM offline agents that might be able to work? Been thinking about running a few of them for small tasks though I'm loving Codex.

@technocounselor Hey, if the mac is something you want and will use who are people to express their opinions? Is it their money?

@Rooktallon Yeah, not something I’d do every day, but for a computer I’ll use for several years, it’s worth it.

@Rooktallon The person you want to ask about that would be @mikedoise

@technocounselor @Bruce I bet you 5 bucks that it's just fine. People are annoying. You go girl. Or something.

@Bruce A 14 inch MacBook Pro with a M5 max processor, that includes a 18 core CPU, 40 core GPU, and 16 core Neural Engine. 128 GB of RAM and a 2 TB SSD.

@technocounselor @Bruce Noice!!!! That actually gave me goosebumps! Why would people complain about that? That's amazing!

@technocounselor @Bruce I think it is interesting that you are going for that end of the spectrum, and I am seriously considering a MacBook Neo. It will be especially interesting if we both end up being pretty happy with what we got.

@technocounselor I've never understood why people feel so free to express negative opinions about another person's technology choices. It really is not their business. Most people don't choose to spend as little as I do on technology, but that doesn't give me the right to impose my choices on others. I really hope you enjoy your new Mac.
